More progress
I went around to the site today and found the brickwork going up. Things are still rattling along at a hectic pace and I don't think it'll be long until we get the lock up claim from the builder now. Inside there's been lots going on too...
The guys that put in the smart wiring and home theater wiring were there today. Since that is one of the most important aspects of the house from my perspective, it was nice to meet them and I got a good feeling about their knowledge and they seemed to be doing a good job with what they'd done so far.
Also on the interior, most if not all of the plumbing work seems to be in place and there's electrical wiring everywhere for lights and power.
Our site supervisor told us that the plastering would start next week, and that certainly seems to be the case based on the amount of plasterboard that was around.
Overall, I'm very impressed with how everything is progressing so far.

Site Supervisor meet
We met our site supervisor Roy for the first time today. He seems nice and gave us confidence that he's looking after the build in a professional way. He talked us through what would be happening over the next few weeks and told us that if everything goes to plan we could be in by the end of September!
Not so much obvious progress this week, but the roof should be finished today and there's water & gas pipes inside the house now, so that's good to see.

Roof tiles are a go
Went around to the site on Saturday to have a look at the progress and things still seem to be progressing at a hearty pace. Roof tiles are about half done by the looks of things and there's all sorts of ducting going in. All the windows are there now, with the wooden ones for the front yet to be installed.
There are a couple of minor issues with the frame, but the site supervisor assures me they're in hand. We'll be meeting him for the first time on Friday, so that will be good to put a face to a name.
As of writing we're 5 1/2 weeks since the site scrape, and just 3 1/2 weeks since the slab pour!

Photos
We've put a few photos up on the blog, but if you're interested in seeing the whole set from the beginning, you can find them here:

I'll keep this album updated as we progress further.

Slab and Frame Stage
So Renee took a drive on Friday to see if the concrete was being poured, well she was 24hrs too late as it had been done a day ahead of schedule and had been laid on Thursday! Luckily the weather was great all weekend so gave it time to set before framing started on Monday. James took a drive to see what had gone up and nearly the first floor has been finished! He spoke with the framers on site and they said that the upstairs should be complete by the end of the week. If they keep it up we'll be in in a few weeks (OK a slight exaggeration, but feels like it!).

So what are we actually building?
So after wandering around a number of houses we decided on the Newington 40sq from Carlisle Homes. It met all our requirements and we loved the layout.
